Pictured are Junior Varsity Debater Derrick Brown who won a top speaker certificate at Westside Debate Tournament; Junior Varsity Debaters Cedrick Brown and Erick Evans who advanced to the play offs this past weekend at Yates Debate Tournament; Varsity Debaters Rebecca Perez and Destined Johnson with trophys from Houston Urban Debate League Tournament at Yates HS this past weekend; Rebecca Perez with her 2009 Spirit of HUDL (Houston Urban Debate League) award for her leadership and dedication to the Houston Urban Debate League. (She was one of 10 students out of 250 participants to receive this award.)

Science TAKS night

On Wednesday, January 20th, beginning at 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., CLC had a very successful Science and TAKS night. Parents came and saw and evaluated their student Science Fair presentations, as well as participated in hands-on lessons from their favorite science teachers. They also got first hand information, from administrative staff, as well as HISD representatives, on how to best assist their student with passing the TAKS examination. Refreshments were served from 4:30 to 5:30.
